Chitosan and Titanium Dioxide Are More Effective in Improving Seed Yield and Quality in Nanoparticle Compared to Non-Structured Form: A Case Study in Five Milk Thistle Ecotypes (Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn.)

چکیده
Milk thistle is an important medicinal crop. In this two-year field study, the optimal form [bulk (non-structured), nanoparticles (NPs)] and concentration (0, 50, 100 mg L?1) of chitosan titanium dioxide (TiO2) applications for improving seed yield, as well mineral (N, Mg, Fe, Ti), protein, oil contents were investigated in five ecotypes. Leaf gas exchange, ratio variable to maximum fluorescence (Fv/Fm), hydration also evaluated situ. Chitosan TiO2 improved all traits under with former generally being more effective. When applied NP form, positive effect was stronger. For NPs, a low optimal. Increased status associated enhanced stomatal conductance, which, together Fv/Fm, positively related photosynthetic rate. The yield per plant main capitulum (i.e., diameter, number, weight seeds), number capitula plant. conclusion, improvement quality by application either underlain same components, though their relative importance depends on ecotype. NPs most effective, demonstrating economical, eco-friendly, sustainable means stimulate milk yield.

Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum)
Milk thistle is a well known and commonly used herb, used particularly in hepatic diseases. It has very potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antifibrotic properties (1). As a single agent its therapeutic effects in liver disease appear to be modest (2,3,4,5). Herbal medicines and supplements are likely to be much more beneficial when used synergistically in combinations or formulas. Milk ...
متن کاملPhylogenetic and chemical diversity of fungal endophytes isolated from Silybum marianum (L) Gaertn. (milk thistle)
Use of the herb milk thistle (Silybum marianum) is widespread, and its chemistry has been studied for over 50 years. However, milk thistle endophytes have not been studied previously for their fungal and chemical diversity. We examined the fungal endophytes inhabiting this medicinal herb to determine: (1) species composition and phylogenetic diversity of fungal endophytes; (2) chemical diversit...

Milk thistle (Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn.) is one of the valuable medicinal plants which used in the treatment of liver disorders. The major active constituents in this plant are flavonolignans, collectively known as silymarin which is a mixture of three isomer silybin, silydianin and silycristin. Its therapeutic properties are due to the presence of silymarin. The seeds contain the highest a...

Background & Aim: Milk thistle [Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn] is an annual or biennial plant, native to the Mediterranean area, which has spread in north and south of Iran. A fruit of milk thistle contains a relatively high amount (approx. 20%) of oil, which exhibits wound-healing, anti-burn, and hepatoprotective properties. Experimental: In this research, a pot experiment wa...
